About

My Story

Since 2011, I have designed drill, coordinated, and choreographed for band programs across the country. Since 2021, show design has been my full-time career. My clients have achieved state finalist & championship awards, advanced to UIL Area contests across Texas, and been honored as BOA Class champions in Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas.

My start

The marching arts transformed me at a young age. When I was 13, my grandmother took me to my very first drum corps show, before I’d ever even marched in a band. I left that night with a fire in my heart to become a world-class performer, and it sparked a decades-long journey that has defined my life.

The Performance Years

When I was 16, I joined the Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps as a contra player. Like so many teenagers in our activity, drum corps showed me what happens when you push beyond what you believe is possible.

I marched drum corps for four seasons in total: two with Memphis Sound and two with Carolina Crown.

Education & Beyond

In the summer of 2009, I moved to Chattanooga to pursue a degree in music education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While at UTC, I found a home with the Signal Mountain High School Band.

I have served Signal Mountain in many capacities since 2010, from visual tech to visual director to indoor winds director. I have written their drill, choreographed and served on the design team in many facets. Together we have earned a Tennessee State Division 2 championship, 12 appearances in State Finals, six BOA class championships and an appearance in the BOA Grand National Semifinals.

Since my first written show, JPit Designs has grown nationally. As of 2026, I have designed drill for more than 50 bands across 12 states. My bands have won BOA class championships in Tennessee, Alabama, Texas and Indiana, and more than 10 have been state finalists. In the winter, I design and teach full time, and my clients include WGI A and Open Class finalists and circuit champions.

As an educator, I have worked with World Class programs nationally, including the Madison Scouts, Cap City Percussion, Cap City 2 and Music City Drum Corps.

Where I Am Today

In the summer of 2026, I accepted a position with the Bartlett High School Band, where I now serve as visual director. Alongside my wife, I support the band program year round. I also serve on the visual staff of the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps.

I am a full-time freelance visual educator, and I currently write, clinic and consult for more than 30 programs nationwide.
